CRF Acquisitions LLC —> Scammers!
Seems like the consumers that call me are not the only consumers that are getting harassed by CRF Acquisitions. Check out these other complaints, below:
1. Got a call from this number saying they had papers to file in my county-think it has to do with a debt that was included in my bankruptcy. Even has a case number. Guess they don’t care if they get sued for trying to collect on a discharged debt.Caller: CRF Call Type: Debt CollectorReply!0Robert Ewart29 Jun 2012Got scammed by these guys, only they claimed to be the “CRF Firm” or CRF Aquisitions”. Have disputed the charge with VISA and will be getting my money back, but I though I’d share this with everyone.
crfacquisitions.com was registered June 6, 2012. They are changing names to avoid some heat. Be aware of these scammers.
Google Obrien Wexler and Associates, see the notes on 800notes.com about them, same story as here. These are the same people doing the same thing under a different name. Here is the guy who registered the domain name, his address, and his phone number

I need a true answer, after reading the post, I see some people say they are scam, other they are legit and work with you to resolve the issue, I am not sure what to believe, and the information about the company, not been a legit company, need some answers.Reply!0Alfalfa replies to phatsam25 Oct 2012Consumers across the country report that they’re getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what’s the story?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written “validation notice.” The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller’s address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you’re dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General’s office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General’s office can help you determine your rights under your state’s law.>
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt076.shtmReply!0PHATSAM25 Oct 2012Not sure who this company is state is out of dallas county received allegation against my name,ssn#dl from company tried to defraud company over $400.00, states info would leave their on 10/26/12 would obtain, a process server to have me served at my job, it was a civil case case#CV67932,name of company who indiviual with just his name is John Stoval, could be contact at 877-884-6848 ext 2008, I know most 800,866 or 877 or collection agenies, not the orginal debtor, also they or collection agencies that buy accounts for the orginal debtors. they purchase the debt and try to collect and get paid, for money they spent to purchase the acct. that could not be legal do by any means. I not sure, how it changed from debt over $500 to debt over $400.00 in less that 10 minutes, these calls came in 10 minutes, one on my cell# the other on my work number. they are harrassing & I would like for this to stop.Reply!0Jenni14 Nov 2012Can these people actually sue me if I still owe them $25.00?Caller: CRF FirmCall Type: Debt CollectorReply!0Jenni replies to Jenni14 Nov 2012I took out a loan with VIP for $400.00 and paid them $379. I realized the balance was not going down and they said I still owed $400.00. I closed out my bank account. Now these jokers are calling saying I owe $900.00. I told them I would pay them no more than $300.00 and could pay bi-weekly payments of $50.00 each. They refuse to take bi-weekly payments and now say they are going to verify employment. Can they actually sue me since I still owe $21.00 on the original loan?Reply!0*Daniel* replies to Jenni14 Nov 2012I just recieved a call from a John Stolar with Harris County and that i have a debt for over 400$ attatched to my name dl# and SS# and also stated i could lose my license up to 30 days if this matter is not paid . He offered me a payment plan aswell however i told him i don’t have a checking or savings to pay ACH he advised me to go purchase a Pre Paid Credit card . i really don’t think this is legit . i’m just going to call VIP cash myself and ask them where i need to pay and if they say somewhere totally different and a different amount that would let me know its not legit thats the best thing i can think of .i’ll keep you updated .Reply!0Jenni replies to *Daniel*14 Nov 2012Yes, please keep me posted. I tried to send VIP an email but they do not respond to emails.Reply!0Dani replies to Jenni14 Dec 2012I also got threatening calls & reported them to the attorney general & fair Banking commission.Reply!0Mrs. R27 Dec 2012I had a message to call Victoria @ CRV 877-884-6848. Did not say what it was in response to. I did return the call. Pushed 0 for representative. Victoria was not in. I did not get the name of the man who answered. He asked me for my case number…I asked him what this was in regards to and what company CRF is? He would not answer the question. He told me he could look my case number up by my SS# or phone #. I told him I would NOT give him my SS#. Gave phone number that the message was left on. He could not find anything. Again he asked for my SS#. I told him I would not give that info and asked what it was in reference to? He would not tell me. I told him Victoria would have to call me back. He told me she probably would get around to it in 6 mos. but He would probably see me in court before then, and then he hung up on me. VERY unprofessional. If this is a debt collector, I have absolutely no debt, nor have I or anyone in my household been turned over to any debt collectors. We have zero debt and always have been debt free. I called him back and asked to speak to his supervisor. He told me he was the only one working and had too much crap to deal with than to play 20 questions with me and he hung up again. I tried again to call back and get his name, this time he simply picked up and hung up. I can’t believe this is a legitimate company that they can deal with people in such a poor manner. I am going to research and report this company/phone number to police.Caller: CFRReply!0allyson fling3 Jan 2013Got a call saying that I owe 700 dollars and they need a payment.I told them to send me paperwork on the debt and how they Came up with that number.
